OSP Engineer Role

Skills and Abilities

Perform all services that are necessary to design and engineer an underground fiber optic plant system from design award to receiving permits and licenses to construct, including the tasks outlined further.

Underground Design Mapping of the route to include all required details for permitting, including existing utilities, running line, hand hole placement, typical cross-section, cross section/profile views required by permit/jurisdictional authorities, placement details, and general notes associated with the installation.

Upon completion of the route design, develop a cable placement plan and shall include fiber cable sizing, placement details, coil/splice locations, and storage loop length.

Perform all services that are necessary to design and engineer an overhead fiber optic plant system from design award to receiving permits and licenses to construct, including the tasks outlined further.

Strand Mapping of the route to include all detailed attachments, guying, grounding, riser details, span footages, and anchor configurations as required by all applicable codes, including NESC, NEC, and General Order 95 (GO 95).

Collect appropriate aerial design information for each pole to be attached to and perform a structural loading calculation, in accordance with the controlling Utility standards and software.

Attend all associated site walks and meets to in effort to come up with a mutually agreeable design.

Experience

3 years of OSP Engineering and Telecommunications experience.
